Founding Commercial Lead (North America)
Octelligence | Remote, North America | Commission + Equity Path | Part-time compatible
About Octelligence
Octelligence is a corporate governance and minute book platform. Founders use it to manage records, cap tables, share certificates, and compliance for their corporations. Firms use it to manage entire portfolios of client corporations: multi-tenant client portals, white-label branding, bulk operations across client books, compliance dossiers, and cap tables per client entity.
The product is built, tested, and live. Paying customers have arrived entirely through organic search, with no sales effort to date. Octelligence is bootstrapped and founder-operated.
The Role
You will open the firm segment as Octelligence’s founding commercial hire. Your mission is to close the first portfolio-plan customers: corporate law firms, accounting firms, registered agents, and corporate-services providers that manage client minute books, on plans ranging from $3,588 to $23,988 USD per year.
The role spans three things, which is why it is a founding leadership role and not an individual-contributor seat. First, direct closing of portfolio plans in North America. Second, building the channel: recruiting and enabling referral and reseller partners, such as larger law firms, accounting networks, and corporate-services providers, who source portfolio customers at scale. Third, leading the largest Institution-tier pursuits, where deals run through committees and partner-level buyers. You set the commercial playbook that regional Account Executives later run in their own territories.
This is greenfield. No pipeline exists, no playbook exists, and no portfolio plan has been sold yet. That is the point of the role. The CEO may join early sales calls at either party’s request to support deal progression. You own prospecting, pipeline, and closing.
Self-serve founder plans remain driven by product and SEO. Your focus is the portfolio tiers: Foundation ($3,588/yr), Professional ($10,788/yr), and Institution ($23,988/yr).
Compensation
- Commission: 25% of first-year contract value on portfolio plans, paid as customer payments are received. Per deal, that is approximately $897 (Foundation), $2,697 (Professional), or $5,997 (Institution). Uncapped.
- Channel origination override: Revenue sourced through channel partners you bring in carries a separate origination override, defined in your written agreement, on top of commission on the deals you close directly.
- Expansion commission: When an account you sourced and closed expands its contract value, the expansion carries a one-time expansion commission, defined in your written agreement. Paid as customer payments are received.
- Renewal commission: Accounts you source and close carry a renewal commission on each annual renewal, for as long as you remain actively engaged, defined in your written agreement. Paid as customer payments are received.
- No base salary. This role is structured for someone with existing income who wants uncapped, performance-based upside. No fixed hours; you are measured on outcomes only.
- Equity path: An equity ladder tied to portfolio ARR you personally source and close. Reach $50K within 18 months to earn a 5% equity grant, with an additional fixed 2% grant at $150K within 36 months. Each grant vests 25% on its grant date, no cliff, with the remainder vesting monthly over the following 36 months. Commission continues alongside equity.
- All terms formalized in a written agreement before start.
What Success Looks Like
In the first few months: a named target list, an active pipeline, and first meetings booked. By 12 to 18 months: the first portfolio firms closed directly, at least one channel partner signed and producing referrals, the largest Institution-tier pursuits in motion, and the first equity milestone reached at $50K in ARR you have sourced and closed.
Who Thrives Here
- 7+ years of B2B sales experience, ideally selling SaaS or services into legal, accounting, or professional services.
- Comfortable with long, consultative sales cycles and committee or partner-level buyers.
- Able to build and enable a partner channel: recruiting referral and reseller partners and helping them sell, not only selling yourself.
- Comfortable leading enterprise, Institution-tier pursuits through committees and partner-level buyers.
- A hunter: you can build a target list and create first meetings from nothing, without an established brand opening doors.
- Self-directed and outcome-driven; nobody will manage your calendar.
- Motivated by ownership and uncapped commission rather than a salary.
